Simply RAWnchy Detox Juices, Smoothies, Clean Eats & Treats

Warning- if you get offended easily, stop reading. If you have a sense of humor and want to get your skin glowing and feel fab- then grab a glass and juice on!

This is not a diet book it’s about loving and worshiping your sexy self. Karliin Brooks explains why you should go raw, and you don’t need a fancy dehydrator, you can turn your oven into one. Why detox? There’s so many perks- you know taking care of ones’ butt leads to a clear gut. Yes, there’s even a cute little poop chart so you know what poop-fection should look like. Wondering what type of juicer to buy? No problems Karliin has you covered, she explains the types of juicers, and includes a tool check list and a cleanse prep talk.

There’s 3 levels to her juicing guides. Level 1- Basic Bitch, Level 2-Give it to me harder, Level 3- Baddest Bitch. All levels come with a sample menu, side effects (like glowing skin, sex kitten to I gotta pee). Karliin acknowledges that one size doesn’t fit all- so go ahead you sexy Momma and play around, have fun.

From the time I opened the book and starting reading the titles, I knew anyone could go on a cleanse or start juicing even if it’s only a juice a day. With the names like blue balls, shake your peaches, I have a heart on, Kale the pain away and so on who couldn’t have fun? Not only is this book amusing- but it’s full of nutrients that you wouldn’t be able to just eat. No one eats 1/2 a large watermelon and lime in one sitting, but one can easily drink it, even if they didn’t add vodka ūüėČ

Karliin has Beverages, Tonics/elixirs etc, Mylks, Smoothies and Shakes, Lunch and Dinner, Snaxx and treats for you to feast on. I’m going to share one of my favorite juices with you. Ok it’s really a smoothie (if you have a juicer I recommend you try juicing it as well). The lime takes the watermelon to the next level. They are perfect lovers, don’t try to separate them. The watermelon will taste like tears. Seriously.

Watermelon Mojito*

What can be better? This drink is easy, almost a little too easy. But don’t get suspicious…. It’s easy because it includes the best ingredients that momma nature has to offer.

1-2 servings

4 cups watermelon, frozen will give you a creamier texture

8 fresh mint leaves

1 lime juiced.

Blend all ingredients together until smooth and delicious. If using fresh watermelon, pulse in a handful of ice at the very end to ensure ultimate refresh-ability.

Naturally Lean

image

What if I told you, that you could make a rich velvety mac’n’cheese, or a refreshing cinnamon bun smoothie? How about a lush chocolate cheese cake that’s under 300 calories per serving and it’s gluten free? It’s true! The incredibly talented¬† Allyson Kramer has a new book out called Naturally Lean. 125 nourishing gluten-free, plant-based recipes, ALL UNDER 300 CALORIES!!!!! No, the recipes don’t taste like they lack anything. One would question if it was under 300 calories- I know it sounds too good be true, but in this case it is! True that is.

Inside the soft covered book with an enticing picture of the Dilly Avocado Toasts, you will find the recipes are split into¬† 6 chapters. Greens & crucifers, Heart Grains, Fabulous Fruits, Nuts & Seeds, Legumes and Squash, roots & Mushrooms. There’s a “where to buy” ingredients that you may not be familiar with like hemp hearts, cashews, peanut flour, flax seed, (I’ve never heard of peanut flour before) and storage tips.

There are so many recipes I want to make from this book, it’s hard to narrow it down. I’m glad that not every recipe has a picture, but every recipe has a break down on yield, calories, fat, sodium, potassium, carbs, and protein.

I will be updating this post as I make more recipes. Somehow some of my photos are missing in action. That’s ok, because I will gladly make Sunshine Breakfast UnScramble, Insanely Addictive Queso, Minted Watermelon Salad, Superfresh Salsa, Not-So-Dirty-Rice again!

If you have this book, let us know what you have made.

Gardein Pocket Meal

Gardein has gone and done it again! ¬†I was gifted this gardein pocket meal to try and yummo! ¬†If I had Frank’s Red Hot sauce, I would have splashed some on, but the pocket meal was delicious enough by itself. ¬†Kale, barley, sun-dried tomatoes, non-gmo…what more could you ask for? ¬†Another gardein winner in my book!

Pizza Bites Vegan Snack Down

Last week’s vegan snack down challenge inspired by Tasy was pizza bites. Their recipe can be found¬†here. To vote for me visit¬†Vegan Snack Down.

Ok- heres the deal- ¬†tortilla’s, pizza sauce, sausage, pineapple, broccoli, onion, cheese cooked in a muffin tin for 10 mins. Easy! Great for game night, snacks. To make prep faster, chop the toppings the night before and let your family make their own when your ready to cook them. This is the new¬†salad bar!

Ingredients for the toppings

2 Apple sage fieldroast sausage

Some Follow Your Heart fiesta cheese shreds.

Choose your toppings or use what I did (see above).

Ingredients for the pizza sauce

a can of pizza sauce (the smaller size)

1 tablespoon of Oregano

3 tablespoons of  Vegan Magic Parmageddon cheese

For the crust 2 tortillas.

Preheat oven to 425- unless you are just prepping the toppings for tomorrow.

Prepare the toppings- cook your sausage in some oil, UNLESS you have¬†Vegan Magic¬†(seriously- it’s magical, it makes your taste buds rejoice- it has a light non over- powering taste and smell of bacon- love liquid smoke, more of that will be explained in another post). While your sausage is cooking- chop your toppings into small pieces. They are going into a muffin pan after all.

For your sauce, combine all ingredients.

Now take a cookie cutter to the tortillas- press hard, rotate- wiggle to get that sucker out (only do this if you are going to cook the pizza bites the same day, otherwise- save this step for tomorrow)

When  ready to bake these off, preheat oven to 425, lightly oil a muffin pan, put the cut out tortilla into its place, take some pizza sauce, add your toppings, then add your cheese. Place in oven, cook for about 10 mins.

Let rest for a few mins, carefully remove from muffin pan- place on cooling rack. Trust me- these babies are still going to be hot after a few mins, you can wait a few more. Maybe a 5 min waiting period, that sauce is flippin hot and when you burn your mouth- you just ruin your taste buds. You don’t want that. The flavours from the sausage, vegan magic and the fiesta blends united with the other toppings? Perfection!!
