Moral Monument

The stone Moral Monument is about 1m high and about 0.5m wide. It was set up in the 14th year during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (in 1888) and has a history of over 100 years. On the monument, four Chinese characters “天理良心” (which means “conscience”) are inscribed to tell merchants in the ancient town that the way of engaging in business deals and conducting oneself lies in “conscience”.
